A message from our care home manager

Co-Managers at Rose Cottage Care Home

Welcome to Rose Cottage. We are proud to lead a small, caring home where residents are known personally, supported with patience, and treated with dignity. For us, good care is found in the details: a familiar face each morning, a warm meal cooked at home, a quiet conversation, or a cup of tea offered before it is asked for.

As co-managers and carers first, together we have over 40 years of experience. Our long-standing team brings skill, kindness, and consistency to everyday life, helping residents feel safe, comfortable, and understood. The home has been a staple in Broughton and the wider Huntingdonshire, and we feel a strong connection to our local community.

As a charity-run home, our focus is always on people. We offer a ‘home from home’ – truly personalised residential, dementia, respite and end-of-life care, and pride ourselves on being there for residents and families every step of the way.

Frequently
asked questions

What is life like at Rose Cottage Care Home?

Life at Rose Cottage is calm, familiar, and shaped around each resident’s own routines. We provide a small, homely setting where residents can enjoy freshly prepared meals, daily activities, time in the gardens, and quiet moments in comfortable lounges. Our long-standing team takes time to understand personal preferences, from favourite foods and hobbies to how each resident likes to spend the day. The aim is to support comfort, independence, and wellbeing without making life feel rushed or impersonal.

Can I arrange a trial or respite stay?

Yes, we provide short-term respite care for residents who need temporary support, and flexible trials for those who want time to experience life in the home before making a longer-term decision. All stays include personalised care, meals, activities, accommodation, and day-to-day support from our team. Respite care can be helpful after illness, following an operation, during a carer break, or when exploring whether residential care feels right. Our respite fees are the same as our permanent fees.

How is the transition into care supported?

We take the time to make the move into care feel gentle and well-supported. Before a resident joins us, we complete an assessment to understand care needs, routines, preferences, health requirements, and personal wishes. From there, we create a personalised care plan and help residents settle at their own pace. Our team offers reassurance, familiar faces, and regular check-ins, so each resident can gradually feel comfortable, known, and at home.

Do you offer day care?

Yes. We offer day care for residents aged 65 or over who would like a bit of support or company during the week. Our day care in Huntingdon runs Monday through to Friday, 10am to 2pm and includes activities and a nutritious lunch. A small contribution to cover costs is requested, and a quick safety pre-assessment is carried out beforehand. To find out more, get in touch with us.

How do we care for residents living with dementia?

We provide specialist dementia care in a safe and supportive environment, with care shaped around each resident’s life story, abilities and changing needs. Our team uses familiar routines, calm communication and adapted activities to support confidence and reduce distress. Because Rose Cottage is a smaller home over one floor, staff can build close relationships and notice small changes quickly. We focus on comfort, dignity, and reassurance, and on helping each resident maintain their sense of self.

What happens if my personal funding runs out?

As part of Greensleeves Care, a not-for-profit care charity, we provide our residents with the peace of mind that comes with our Home For Life funding assurance. This unique commitment means residents will be supported to stay if their personal funds run out, provided their care needs can still be safely met at the home. Our charitable status means we focus on people rather than shareholders, giving residents long-term reassurance and a greater sense of security.

Ratings &

From the first moment I set foot in Rose Cottage it felt different to any of the other homes I visited when trying to find a home for mum. It was warm, friendly and welcoming and it hasn’t disappointed in the 12 months since. All the staff are great and they seem to make a real effort with activities which mum enjoys.
