Greensleeves Care has launched its award-winning Get Care Wise campaign for a third year, renewing its commitment to helping people understand later-life care and make informed decisions before they reach a point of crisis.

Starting from 15 June to coincide with Care Home Open Week 2026 and running throughout the summer, the campaign will see teams across Greensleeves Care’s 26 homes welcoming visitors, attending community events and sharing practical advice designed to help people start their care journey with confidence.

A key focus of this year’s campaign is tackling common myths and misconceptions about care homes. Through free presentations, myth-busting resources and community outreach activities being delivered across the country, Greensleeves Care aims to help people better understand modern care and feel more confident exploring their options.

New for 2026 is a network of resident and staff “Get Care Wise Ambassadors” across the group’s homes. The Ambassadors will champion the campaign in their local communities, helping to spark conversations about care, share resources and encourage more people to seek information and support earlier.

The initiative builds on the success of the Get Care Wise campaign since its launch in 2024. Developed in response to research showing that one in four families make care decisions in crisis mode, the campaign has reached millions of people through media coverage, community engagement and digital resources. More than 7,000 copies of its free care guide have been distributed through homes, community venues and healthcare settings, helping families better understand their options and plan ahead.

This year’s campaign places an even greater emphasis on face-to-face engagement, with Greensleeves Care homes acting as local information hubs throughout the summer. From Care Home Open Week activities and summer fetes to open days and respite stays, people will have opportunities to visit homes, meet residents and teams, ask questions and experience care home life first-hand.

Shona King-Abraha, Director of Business Development at Greensleeves Care, said:

“Get Care Wise was created to help people feel more informed, more prepared and more confident when thinking about care. Too often, families find themselves making important decisions under pressure, without having had the opportunity to explore their options properly.

“Over the past two years, the campaign has shown just how much appetite there is for clear, practical information about care. We have reached millions of people, distributed thousands of guides and helped start important conversations in communities across the country.

“This annual campaign is part of how we deliver social impact as a charitable organisation and live our promise of helping people feel good about care – by giving people the knowledge and confidence they need to make the right decisions for themselves and their loved ones.”

Throughout the campaign, people will be encouraged to download the free Get Care Wise guide and explore the range of resources available on the Greensleeves Care website. Covering topics such as recognising when extra support may be needed, understanding care options, funding care and planning ahead, the resources are designed to help families navigate the care journey with greater confidence.

Greensleeves Care is encouraging anyone beginning to think about care – whether for themselves or a loved one – to make the most of opportunities this summer to visit their local care home, attend community events, arrange a respite stay and start conversations early.
