Our end-of-life care in Lowestoft is focused on comfort, dignity, and compassion. We hold Gold Standards Framework accreditation, a nationally recognised standard for excellence in palliative care. We work closely with healthcare professionals to make sure residents receive the right support and our team takes time to understand each resident’s wishes and preferences. Importantly, we also support family members during a difficult time. Residents can remain in familiar surroundings, close to loved ones, in a calm and comfortable environment.
Broadlands offers 46 rooms, most equipped with en-suite wetroom, providing residents with comfort, privacy, and practical support in their daily routines. The home also has three couples or companion rooms for those who wish to stay together. Residents are welcome to bring familiar furniture, photos and treasured belongings, helping their room feel personal from the start. With welcoming lounges, quiet spaces and friendly support nearby, Broadlands feels homely, reassuring and easy to settle into.
The gardens are one of the most loved parts of life at Broadlands. Overlooking the Norfolk Broads, our outdoor space gives residents a peaceful place to sit, chat with visitors, enjoy fresh air, or take part in community events. The home’s beautiful grounds were recognised with the Best Outdoor Environment award at the Caring UK Awards 2025. Whether your loved one enjoys nature, gentle walks, or simply watching the seasons change, the setting offers comfort every day.
Food at Broadlands is about more than nutrition. It is a daily opportunity to enjoy familiar flavours, conversation and choice. Our team takes time to understand each resident’s preferences, routines and dietary needs, so mealtimes feel relaxed and personal. Through the Seek to Fork programme and pioneering RaisingNutrition accreditation, Broadlands places real care into the way food is prepared and enjoyed, helping residents stay well while making dining a comforting and social part of the day.
Activities at Broadlands are shaped around the people who live here. Residents are encouraged to continue old interests, discover new ones and take part at a pace that feels right for them. From garden gatherings and creative sessions to visits, music, seasonal events and community activities, there is always something to look forward to. The active Friends of Broadlands group of dedicated volunteers also helps bring people together, creating a warm sense of connection between residents, families, and the wider community.
At Broadlands, our fees are comprehensive and tailored to each resident’s needs. They cover fully personalised care around the clock, accommodation and furnishings, all meals and utilities, activities, and more. And, as we have no shareholders, every penny goes back into care and enhancing our residents’ lives.
We accommodate a range of funding options, including self-funding, local authority support and NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC). We guide individuals and families through the funding process and support residents in remaining in care if their private funds are depleted.
I’m Anne Maas, Home Manager at Broadlands, and I’m proud to have been part of this very special home since 1984. I first joined as a bookkeeper, before becoming Assistant Manager and then Home Manager in 1999. For me, Broadlands is first and foremost our residents’ home. We are guests here, and that shapes the way we care every day. Our role is to support each person with kindness, respect and dignity, so they can live well, feel comfortable and continue to enjoy the things that matter to them. I’m especially proud of our dedicated and long-standing team, who go the extra mile for residents and families. Together, we have maintained our Outstanding CQC rating since 2016, which reflects the care, knowledge and commitment shown throughout the home. Yes, Broadlands welcomes respite care and flexible no-obligation trial stays of up to six weeks. This gives you the chance to experience the home, meet the team and enjoy daily life before making a longer-term decision. Respite care can also support recovery, give carers a break or provide short-term help when circumstances change. During your stay, meals, activities, personal care and use of the home’s facilities are all included.
