Frequently
asked questions

What is life like at Glebelands Care Home with Nursing?

Life at Glebelands is calm, friendly and shaped around each resident’s routines, preferences and needs. Residents can enjoy home-cooked meals, peaceful garden views, comfortable lounges and a varied activities programme, with the freedom to join in as much or as little as they wish. Some enjoy quizzes, film nights, trips out and social time, while others prefer quieter moments, one-to-one support or time with loved ones. Our aim is to help every resident feel settled, respected, and well cared for.

What is the difference between residential and nursing care?

Residential care is for older people who need daily support with things such as washing, dressing, mobility, medication or meals, while still enjoying as much independence as possible. Nursing care is for residents with more complex health needs who require regular support from qualified nurses. At Glebelands, we provide both residential and nursing care, so each resident receives support that reflects their individual needs, comfort and wellbeing.

How do you support residents who find it hard to speak up for themselves?

Some residents may find it difficult to explain what they need, ask for help or make choices clearly. Our long-standing team takes time to get to know each person, including their routines, preferences, body language and what helps them feel calm and comfortable. Families are encouraged to share what matters most, so care can be shaped around the person, not just their care needs. This helps residents feel understood, respected and safely supported each day.

Can residents personalise their bedrooms?

Yes, residents are welcome to bring familiar furniture, photographs, ornaments and personal belongings to help their room feel more individual. Glebelands has 42 en-suite bedrooms, each with views across the landscaped gardens. Rooms also include practical features such as a phone point, television point and free WiFi. Personal touches can make a big difference when settling in, helping residents feel more comfortable, connected and at ease in their surroundings.

Can I arrange a trial or respite stay?

Yes, respite care can be arranged for short-term support, whether your loved one is recovering after illness, needs extra care following a hospital stay or you are considering longer-term care. A respite stay gives residents time to experience daily life at Glebelands, including meals, activities, accommodation and support from our team. The length of stay can be discussed based on your loved one’s needs and room availability.

What happens if my funds run out?

Glebelands is part of Greensleeves Care, a not-for-profit care provider with a Home For Life funding assurance. This means residents will be supported to continue living at the care home if their personal funds run out, provided their care needs can still be safely met there. Because Greensleeves Care is a charity, funds are reinvested in care rather than paid to shareholders, giving families added reassurance when planning long-term care.

Ratings &
accreditations

Glebelands is a truly special place. Mum was a resident for nearly seven years, and from the moment she arrived, she wasn’t just cared for-she was cared about. The nurses and carers are exceptionally kind, treating every resident with the respect and dignity they deserve. This excellence extends to the entire team – management, administration, domestic, catering, and facilities. The home is consistently clean and welcoming, set within beautiful, well-maintained grounds. Beyond the care provided to my mother, the staff made me feel like part of the family. They went above and beyond to keep me updated on her wellbeing, and the time they took to chat or share a laugh made every visit a pleasure. The support I received throughout her stay, and particularly during her final days, was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the team, and I am deeply grateful to everyone for the kindness and care shown to Mum and me. I would not hesitate to recommend Glebelands.
