“We were fortunate that our Mum wanted to be in a familiar area so when we visited Meadowcroft, we knew that this was the best choice for her. Coming out of hospital after 6 months our Mum was bed-bound for the first time in her life. Mum has now been here for 4 months and she is already going into her chair every day looking out into the beautiful garden. All is possible because of the support of her wonderful care team.”

A message from our care home manager

Care has been my passion for over 30 years, and I still believe the small daily details shape how a home feels.

At The Meadowcroft, my role is to support the team in creating a calm, comfortable place where residents feel listened to, respected and well cared for every day. I help with the day-to-day running of the home, from meals and activities to staff planning, so care feels consistent, familiar and thoughtfully organised.

Having spent seven years with Greensleeves Care, I’m proud to be part of a charity that puts people first. For me, good care is about knowing each resident as a person, understanding their routines and making sure life here feels warm, safe and reassuring.

Frequently
asked questions

What is life like at The Meadowcroft?

Life at The Meadowcroft is calm, comfortable and shaped around each resident’s daily rhythm. We provide a warm home where residents can enjoy freshly prepared meals, meaningful activities, quiet moments, companionship and time outdoors in the landscaped garden. Our lounges, dining spaces, cinema room and hair salon help everyday life feel varied and familiar, while our care team offers gentle support whenever it is needed.

Can I arrange a trial or respite stay?

We provide short-term respite care for residents who need support after illness, an operation or a change in circumstances. Each stay includes personalised care, meals, activities, companionship and a comfortable en-suite bedroom. Separately, we also offer a 6-week flexible trial period for residents considering longer-term care, giving time to settle in, understand daily life and feel confident before making a longer commitment.

How is the transition into care supported?

We support each move with care, patience and clear planning. Before a resident joins us, we take time to understand their needs, routines, preferences and health requirements. This helps us create a personalised care plan from the beginning. Once settled in, our team offers consistent support, familiar faces and gentle encouragement, helping residents feel comfortable, safe and more at home each day.

What is the difference between residential and nursing care?

Residential care provides support with everyday living, including personal care, meals, companionship, routines and overall wellbeing. Nursing care builds on this foundation with additional clinical expertise for residents with more complex health needs. At The Meadowcroft, our experienced care team is supported by qualified nurses and strong partnerships with healthcare professionals, ensuring personalised care that adapts as needs change. Nursing support can include medication management, catheter care, PEG feeding, oxygen therapy, wound care and other specialist interventions, all delivered with dignity, compassion and respect.

How do we care for residents living with dementia?

We provide specialist dementia care in a safe, supportive environment where residents are treated with patience, dignity and understanding. Our trained team takes time to learn each resident’s background, routines and preferences, helping care feel familiar and reassuring. Meaningful activities, calm spaces, memory-friendly approaches and consistent support help residents living with dementia feel secure, connected and valued as their needs change.

What happens if my funds run out?

Through the Home For Life funding assurance, we continue supporting residents if their personal funds run out. As a not-for-profit care home, our focus is on care, comfort and long-term stability rather than shareholders. This commitment helps residents feel secure about the future, knowing they are supported in a home where every penny goes back into delivering thoughtful, person-centred care.

My cousin, Brian, was suffering from cancer and spent the last two months of his life at your lovely home. As I live overseas I was only able to visit him once (other family members were there everyday) but I found the home had a lovely atmosphere, his room was nice and airy, the staff were very friendly (especially Jaqueline who was with him the day I visited), and although he wasn’t too aware of my visit I felt he was in no discomfort or pain, due to the good care he was receiving.
