Each bedroom can be personalised with familiar furniture, photos and belongings, creating a space that feels individual while remaining safe, practical and supportive. Rooms are fully furnished and come with TV and Freeview as standard.

We accommodate a range of funding options, including self-funding, local authority support and NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC). We guide individuals and families through the funding process and support residents in remaining in care if their private funds are depleted.

As a registered nurse with an active NMC pin, I understand the importance of safe, well-led support that protects dignity and promotes wellbeing. My experience includes managing residential, dementia and nursing care, improving quality standards, mentoring care teams and strengthening governance across regulated services. At Clarendon Lodge, my focus is on creating a calm, caring environment where residents feel known, supported and respected every day. Our long-standing team all align around the same vision – that good care starts with listening, consistency and a team that takes pride in doing the small things well.

Residents can enjoy freshly prepared meals, welcoming lounges, quiet spaces, the bistro, library, cinema and regular activities. The team takes time to understand each person’s routines, interests and preferences, so daily life feels familiar, supportive and meaningful.

Can residents arrange a trial or respite stay?

Yes, Clarendon Lodge offers respite care in Rickmansworth, as well as a flexible trial of up to six weeks as standard for all permanent stays Short stays can support recovery after illness, surgery or a hospital stay, or provide a break for a regular carer. Respite residents receive the same warm support, freshly prepared meals, laundry, activities and access to facilities as longer-term residents. A trial stay can also help someone experience life at the home before making a longer-term decision.

How is the transition into care supported?

Moving into care is carefully supported, with time taken to understand each resident’s needs, routines, preferences, and personal history. Before moving in, the team completes an assessment and creates a personalised care plan that covers daily support, health needs, food preferences, interests, and wellbeing. Once settled, staff continue to review care regularly and offer gentle reassurance, familiar routines and practical support to help residents feel comfortable in their new home.

At Clarendon Lodge, dementia care is provided in a safe, calm and supportive environment for people living with dementia. The one-floor layout, private courtyard and easy access to outdoor spaces help residents move comfortably through familiar surroundings. Staff take a person-centred approach, learning each resident’s life story, routines and preferences. Adapted activities, gentle structure and consistent support help promote reassurance, dignity and a continued sense of self.

What activities and social events are offered?

A dedicated social activities team plans a varied programme to support wellbeing, companionship and personal interests. Activities may include bingo, music, gentle exercise, creative sessions, cinema afternoons, group games, seasonal events and individual hobbies. Residents can also enjoy outings and links with the local community, including events around Croxley Green. Participation is always flexible, so residents can join group activities or enjoy quieter moments when preferred.

What happens if personal funds run out?

Clarendon Lodge is part of Greensleeves Care, a not-for-profit organisation. Through the Home for Life Assurance, residents will be supported in staying in the home if their personal funds are depleted. This reassurance reflects Greensleeves Care’s charitable purpose, with fees reinvested in care, comfort, and daily life rather than in shareholder profit.

Are you able to offer fast admissions?

Yes. We can generally accommodate rapid admission processes, particularly for residents who may have had an emergency or need a speedy discharge from hospital.

My husband who suffers from vascular dementia and has other problems originally came for respite breaks, but is now a permanent resident. He is not the easiest person to have to deal with and wants to do everything in his own sweet time, which is challenging for meal times, arranged activities and medical appointments etc! The staff have a wonderful manner and genuine care for him and indeed all the residents. The home and rooms are kept spotlessly clean with a very efficient laundry collection. Catering is of a good standard and residents are able to make their daily meal choices. There is a varied programme of morning and afternoon activities, as well as interesting trips out in the minibus. Thoroughly recommended – well done team Clarendon!
