Staff and residents at Gloucester House are celebrating after winning not one, but three prestigious national accolades at an annual event that recognises excellence across care homes in England.
The Greensleeves Care Awards celebrate talent, compassion, and innovation from across the not-for-profit group’s homes across the country. With over 1,900 employees, the awards honour achievements across a wide range of categories, including outstanding care practice, leadership, teamwork, community engagement, dementia care, and resident wellbeing.
Gloucester House was singled out from among 300 nominations and its residents were recognised in the Sustainability and Innovation category. The category celebrates creating something new and innovative, which directly benefit residents or contribute positively to the Trust’s sustainability impact. The Gloucester House residents were praised for participating in a virtual ‘Conqueror Challenge’ from Land’s End to John O’Groats. To ensure inclusivity daily exercise sessions were tracked as were the passive movements from those living in bed.
The home also bagged two more awards: Provision of an Excellent Activities programme, awarded to Leigh Leggatt and Nickola Lingham for their diverse, fun, person-centred programme that is responsive to the ever-changing needs of each individual resident; and the Volunteer of the year award, given to Robert Hunt for his faithful weekly visits. Robert always makes his way around to as many residents as he can, prioritising those cared for in their rooms for interactions and meaningful conversations, which the residents always look forward to.
Bethany Powley, Home Manager at Gloucester House, said:
“We are so incredibly proud to receive these awards – it’s a real honour for the whole home. These recognitions are a testament to what we do best – providing high-quality, person-centred support, and going above and beyond to help people feel good about care. It’s wonderful to be noted among a group of brilliant care homes nationally, and we are thrilled to keep building on this success for the benefit of our entire community at Gloucester House.”
