Care Home Team Members at De Lucy House in Diss

Residents, families, and the local community came together on Saturday 06 September to celebrate the 10th anniversary of De Lucy House care home in Diss, Norfolk. The milestone was marked with a joyful garden party and recognition of nine long-serving colleagues who have dedicated a decade to the home.

Guests, including the Mayor of Diss Cllr Declan Craggs, enjoyed live music from local musician Terry Adams, alongside food, drinks, and entertainment in the home’s gardens— opened exactly ten years ago to the day.

Nine team members were presented with long service certificates by Greensleeves Care’s Chief Executive, Christopher Poole. Divisional Director Tracy Nelson also delivered a heartfelt speech recognising their 10 years of commitment, while Divisional Director–East, Donna Mills, joined the celebrations to mark her region’s successes.

Four De Lucy House team members have since progressed into leadership roles, and at the time, Home Manager Lauren Tubby was the youngest recruited home manager in the East of England for Greensleeves Care. Lauren continues to lead the team today.

The home’s dedication to excellence has been recognised with multiple awards, including Home of the Year three years running at the Greensleeves Care Awards and the prestigious Quality Hallmark for Gold Standards in end-of-life care.

Lauren Tubby praised the team and reflected on the special day:

“It was a fabulous afternoon which residents and visitors thoroughly enjoyed. The garden looked beautiful, the barbecue was a real treat, and Terry Adams’ music made it even more special. Our staff’s hard work and dedication over the past decade is incredibly important to celebrate, and I couldn’t be prouder of all our achievements.”

Activities Coordinator Charlotte Ruddy shared her own journey at the home:

“I started here in 2015 as a care assistant and became Activities Coordinator in 2022. This is an amazing team to be a part of – the standard of care is extremely high, and the residents we support are truly at the heart of everything we do. Over the last decade I’ve seen challenges, achievements, and many special moments with our residents. I feel extremely proud to be part of such a supportive team, it really does feel like family.”

Lauren also highlighted the importance of such events in supporting residents’ wellbeing:

“Spending time outdoors has huge benefits, and events like this bring people together, strengthen community connections, and make lasting memories. This season is also a good time to get care wise – this may involve thinking about the additional care and support we or an older loved one might need in the coming months. If you would like to come and see our gorgeous outside space, our cosy inside areas and specialist facilities, please get in touch, we’re always here to help people to make well-informed, family-oriented decisions, without the pressure of urgency.”
