Once a royal hunting lodge used by King Charles II and Nell Gwyn, Mount Ephraim House is today a stunning, not-for-profit care home and a Tunbridge Wells landmark with a long connection to health and wellbeing.

Recently renovated the home blends modern spaces with historic character, supported by a dedicated and long-established team. New residents quickly feel part of a warm and vibrant community.

Mount Ephraim House offers 57 en suite bedrooms, inviting lounges, a light-filled conservatory, and beautiful gardens overlooking Tunbridge Wells Common. The home is also highly rated on carehome.co.uk, reflecting positive feedback from residents and families.

The Gold Standards Framework is a nationally recognised, evidence-based programme that supports care homes to provide the best possible quality of life for residents approaching the end of life. Fewer than 350 care homes across the UK currently hold this accreditation, which signifies excellence in care that upholds dignity, respect, and choice.

To achieve accreditation, the team at Mount Ephraim House completed comprehensive GSF training, produced a detailed evidence portfolio and underwent a thorough on-site assessment by the national GSF team, confirming that the framework is deeply embedded across all areas of care.

Michelle Bryant, Home Manager at Mount Ephraim House, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the Gold Standards Framework accreditation. This award is a wonderful recognition of the compassion and professionalism shown by our team every single day.

To be the first care home in Tunbridge Wells to receive this achievement means a great deal to us. It reflects our ongoing commitment to providing residents with the best possible care, ensuring they can live well, with comfort and dignity, right to the end of life.”

Mount Ephraim House was accredited along with 10 sister homes from across Greensleeves Care, bringing the total number of accredited homes in the charitable group to 19.
