Speirs House is situated in an elevated position in a private road on the outskirts of New Malden, an attractive part of south west London. The comfortable purpose built accommodation is surrounded by attractive gardens and courtyards which are easily accessible to residents. The busy shopping centres of New Malden and Kingston upon Thames are nearby. Speirs House offers residential and nursing care for up to 35 older people.
Accommodation
Speirs House has a total of 34 bedrooms, including one double room. All bedrooms have ensuite facilities. Each bedroom is fully furnished to a high standard. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items such as pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture. The rooms are also equipped with a call bell system, TV point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets. A pay phone is available but residents may have a telephone in their room at their expense.
Dining
Our catering team is committed to providing interesting and nutritional meals. Residents are offered a varied menu for each meal, with a choice of tasty and well presented food. Residents may eat in the dining room or take meals in their rooms if desired. All medical and special diets are catered for.
Staffing
A qualified and experienced Manager and team provide 24 hour management cover for the home, and they are ably supported by trained nurses, care assistants, catering and domestic staff.
Facilities
The home is bright and spacious. There are six comfortable lounges and a library for residents which are tastefully decorated. There is a pleasant well laid out garden with full access. The home arranges a regular programme of activities, outings and trips for the resident s. There are also visits by a hairdresser and chiropodist. Speirs House was bequeathed to the Institution of Electrical Engineers Benevolent Fund after WW2 by Charles Speirs in order to provide support and accommodation for fellow electrical engineers returning from the war.
