To mark Carers Week, Pelsall Hall care home welcomed two special guests from Walsall Council, as part of their bid to re-establish connections with the local community.

Carol Jones, Commissioning Manager for Older People & Vulnerable Adults, attended with Councillor Keir Pedley. The guests were greeted by the home manager, Wendy Clifton, as well as representatives from Greensleeves Care, the charity which operates Pelsall Hall.

The guests were given a tour around the home and took the opportunity to speak to residents about their experiences of living at Pelsall Hall. Following the periods of lockdown due to the pandemic, residents and colleagues at the home are thrilled to be able to welcome members of the community back to the home and to re-establish the strong bonds with local schools, places of worship, businesses and neighbours.

Wendy Clifton, Home Manager, said:

“The local Pelsall community acted as a real support system during the pandemic, kindly donating PPE, food, games, books and more. Now that we can welcome them back to the home, we are able to show our appreciation in person!”

Councillor Pedley spoke with team members at Pelsall Hall about their experiences throughout the pandemic, thanking them for their resilience and dedication towards the residents. There was also an opportunity for team members to ask questions and share their experiences within the Adult Social Care Sector, which Councillor Pedley represents.

Shona King, Director of Business Development for Greensleeves Care, said:

It was an honour to offer our visitors an insight into the vibrant day-to-day life at Pelsall Hall, as well as to feedback to Councillor Pedley about the challenges and opportunities the sector is currently facing and embracing, not least watching the gradual re-emergence of all our community-based activities and involvement.

Greensleeves Care has long been an advocate of creating connected care communities and we very much look forward to this once more as the community continues to open up”.
