Torkington House named among the best in London

Torkington House, a residential and dementia care home in Acton, has been named among the top 20 care homes in London by leading online care home directory Carehome.co.uk.

The annual Carehome.co.uk Awards recognise care homes in their respective regions according to their review score on the platform, which is based on impartial, independent reviews from residents, their families and friends. Torkington House currently holds a review score of 9.9 out of 10.

Many older people and their families will consult the platform before making a choice about a care placement. Reviews on the platform cannot be edited or removed by care organisations and are therefore seen as an accurate and honest portrayal of UK care settings.

The reviews are often heartfelt and personal from family members of residents, such as the below:

“Torkington House is a wonderful place. My mum has been a resident for a few weeks and she is happy and settled. She participates in daily stimulating activities and enjoys them. She is so well cared for, there is always one of the amazing carers by her side and her comfort and happiness always comes first. We, as a family, know that she is safe at all times.”

Torkington House prides itself on having strong community engagement, holding regular visits with local schools, churches, day centres and more. Offering residential and dementia care, the home benefits from 28 spacious en-suite bedrooms, comfortable lounges, and extensive gardens in a residential area of Acton.

The home is part of Greensleeves Care, which was also named among the Top 20 Large Care Home Group in the awards for the seventh year running. Greensleeves Care’s not-for-profit approach often aligns with local care-seekers. The organisation’s status means that in joining, residents are not only receiving great care but also supporting a charitable mission, and the group’s ‘Home for Life Commitment’ reassures residents that they will never be asked to leave if their funds run out while in care.

Margaret Siriwardena, Home Manager at Torkington House, said:

“We are thrilled to be named among the Top 20 care homes in London. Not only for the recognition itself, but for the fact that the award is the direct result of feedback from our residents, their families and friends. We are so proud to be a part of the community here in Acton, and we are pleased to accept this award as a testament to the high quality of care we strive to deliver every day.”
