Aleth Carrington - Living Our ValuesA senior carer at Whitegates residential care home in Westfield near Hastings, has received a national Care Award. Competing for this award with 23 other care homes across the country, Aleth Carrington was crowned the winner of Living Our Values Award.

Due to the government imposed lockdown, Greensleeves Care Awards needed to be held as virtual events in each award category instead of the annual gala event held at Raddison Blu Hotel in London. However, this has not diminished the value of the individual awards or the excitement from winning the awards.

Living Our Values Award aims to recognise an individual or team who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Greensleeves Care values that include respect, openness and responsibility. It includes the promotion of residents’ rights and respect for their preferences in the delivery of care and taking responsibility for their work and supporting other staff to be better.

The judges’ panel was impressed to hear of Aleth’s proactive approach, anticipating the residents’ needs and acting in a compassionate and professional manner.

The relative of a resident who nominated Aleth for this award said: “We have always found Aleth to be very professional and she responds quickly and very efficiently to our Mum’s health care needs. Throughout our Mum’s time at the home, she has always taken a proactive approach. She really understand that the home is Mum’s home, not just a place where she is staying. This was exemplified in the personal responsibility she took to make sure Mum returned back to the home following breaking her hip. Her vigilance continues by quickly acting on signs of any illness Mum starts to show. Her compassionate care and professionalism help us to know that Mum is in safe hands at home.”
