On 24 April, residents and staff at De Lucy House became the proud owners of six duck eggs, together with incubator, brooder and cage. Over the next few days all six ducklings successfully hatched.
Residents have thoroughly enjoyed caring for the ducklings, from watching patiently and waiting for the eggs to hatch to drying the duckling with towels after a swim in the paddling pool.
The ducklings have visited everyone at De Lucy House, including less mobile residents. The obvious enjoyment and smiles on people’s faces has been wonderful to see.
The entire process has been extremely successful and everyone will be sad to see the ducklings move on to their new home . This will be a farm owned by a staff member’s mother, where the ducks will live happily as pets.
