The team at Buckler’s Lodge, our brand-new care home in Crowthorne, are asking for nominations for a ‘Local Hero’ to do the honours of officially opening the home to its first residents in early March.

The Local Hero could be somebody who goes above and beyond to help the Crowthorne Community, or perhaps somebody who has shown outstanding dedication to their neighbours during the pandemic.

Buckler’s Lodge, situated at Woodcote Green, is operated by not-for-profit organisation Greensleeves Care, and will provide both residential and dementia care within state-of-the-art facilities.

The Buckler’s Lodge team are keen to establish a close relationship between the home and members of the surrounding community. They have already started a Hassle-free Haircuts scheme, which offers professional haircuts in the home’s purpose-built salon, particularly aimed at older people and those living with dementia.

Debbie Rapson, General Manager of Buckler’s Lodge, said:

“It would be a real honour for a local hero to officially open Buckler’s Lodge and to welcome our first residents to their new home. I firmly believe that care homes hold a special place within the heart of their local communities, and we can’t wait to get involved in Crowthorne’s community spirit.”
