Residents of De Lucy House in Diss, Norfolk, played host to two rather furry visitors this weekend…

Local alpaca celebrities, Clifton and Galahad, made the journey from Wymondham (with their keepers Tom and Jess) to befriend De Lucy House’s residents. The residents got to learn all about these lovely animals, from how old they are, to what they eat, to where they originally come from.

Luckily, the weather was glorious, so De Lucy House’s residents enjoyed spending time in the sunshine whilst getting to know Clifton and Galahad. Some residents who chose to stay inside were greeted at the window by two furry faces… certainly not something you see every day. The alpacas even stayed for afternoon tea and drank from the home’s finest china!

Friends and family of De Lucy House’s residents loved seeing the photos from the day on Facebook, which sparked lots of funny comments, such as ‘Looks like dad has the same lockdown hair as the alpacas!’

Activities Co-ordinator, Nikki, described the experience:

The residents enjoyed feeling the thick texture of the alpacas’ coats as their fleece has not been cut this year. All staff and residents thought they were gorgeous, funny, and friendly. I have booked to have them back into the home to visit the residents that are in their beds!”

We would like to thank Tom and Jess, as well as the rest of the team at Wymondham Alpacas, for this amazing experience- both staff and residents had a wonderful day getting to know these gentle creatures.
