Activities Coordinator

ABOUT: An exciting role as Activities Coordinator is now available at Speirs House.  If you have prior experience in activities or organising events, we want to hear from you!

THE ROLE: As Activities Coordinator, you will plan a varied programme of activity around the needs of our resident group. You will explore the most appropriate methods and resources for meeting activity needs including group events and individual sessions. Other responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with residents, relatives, friends and staff, to ensure full knowledge of each resident’s likes, dislikes, interests, abilities and difficulties.
• Advertising and promoting the planned programme in a manner which encourages involvement of all residents, relatives and staff.
• Maintaining written records of resident participation and evaluation of activities

ABOUT YOU: With strong communication and organisational skills, you will be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to deliver activities in a care setting. You will also:

• Have previous experience in organising activities
• Have experience supervising and delegating work to other staff members
• Have an understanding of the needs of residents.
• Be able to approach work with a flexible attitude, open to taking on new challenges.
• Have previous experience in working with elders with dementia
