We welcome five new members to the Board of Trustees

David Ballard
David is chief executive of the British Safety Council, a charity devoted to improving health and safety in the workplace. He has a very interesting background, basically as a civil engineer with major construction companies and then moving to managing not-for-profit organisations. Some years ago he decided – in his spare time! - to obtain a law degree and qualified as a barrister. He brings strong management and corporate governance experience, as well as his property and legal background.

Claire Brown
Claire is a chartered accountant who started her career in audit working with some larger charities. After ten years in the financial services sector most recently serving as Finance Director for an international service company, Claire has recently moved to a position in the Financial Reporting Unit of BDO Stoy Hayward, the fifth largest firm of accountants internationally. Claire brings general financial management and specific charity financial reporting experience. Claire's appointment to our Board of Trustees was during the 2006-7 financial year.

Richard Douglas
Richard's earlier career was first as a teacher and then in the Army, mainly in education and training. Since leaving the services, he has become Chief Executive of the New Masonic Samaritan Fund, a grant making charity. He will bring broad experience including planning, general management, finance as well as his experience in training.

Kris Murali
Kris is a chartered accountant and is the Director of Finance for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.  This has some interesting parallels with GHT, in that it is a registered charity (professional institution) which also has a trading subsidiary.   He has considerable commercial experience and will bring financial and general management skills to the board. Kris has been appointed Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee at Greensleeves.

John Wylie
John is a chartered surveyor who focused on urban property in the earlier part of his career. In later years, he has managed properties and endowments for charitable foundations as varied as Grays Inn and the Dulwich Estate. This means that he is very familiar with issues around social housing and sheltered accommodation. As well as his property expertise, he will bring general/change management skills and significant experience in the charity sector.

Greensleeves would like to offer their profound thanks to two of our long-standing Trustees who have retired from the Board during this financial year. Ann Fleming and Peter Woods have given the Trust many years willing and valuable voluntary service.
