New unit at Kingston House, Calne.
Kingston House showed off its new facilities at a grand opening on Friday 24 September.
David Ballard, the Chairman of Greensleeves Homes Trust which owns Kingston House, opened the proceedings by welcoming the guests – ranging from those who had made the development possible to relatives of residents and other supporters of the Home. The two special guests were James Gray, the MP for North Wiltshire, and Helen Plenty, Mayor of Calne, who declared the new unit open.
A new wing has been added to the Home, taking the total number of bedrooms from 34 to 46, and there are new extensions to the dining areas and kitchen. The main focus of the development is a new unit, Lavender Lodge, which can provide specialised care for those with higher levels of dementia. Kingston House has already developed expertise in this area but now has the facilities to provide even better care.
Guests had the chance to enjoy guided tours of the new building, a film show of the building works in progress (from the photos taken by Mrs Doreen Wootten, one of Kingston’s residents) and an excellent buffet lunch.
