Torkington House is an elegant Edwardian House that was originally opened in 1947. The home is situated in a peaceful tree-lined road in Acton, West London and is accessible to public transport and shops. It has now been redeveloped with the addition of a new dining room, a second sitting room and a new wing to accommodate 32 residents in total. The gardens are an added attraction to both residents and their visitors.

Accommodation
The majority of the rooms are fitted with en-suites. Each room is fully carpeted and furnished to a high standard. They are also equipped with a call bell system, TV point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items such as pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture. A pay phone is available but if you wish, you may have a telephone in your own room at your own expense.

Dining
Our catering team offers residents a choice of menu for each meal, which is usually taken in the dining room. Medical and special diets can also be catered for.

Facilities
There are two lovely sitting rooms, one is in the old building with all the original Edwardian features and the other is the sun lounge which is in the new building and overlooks the decking and the rear garden. There is a lift to all floors, full central heating and an emergency call system throughout the home.

Activities
Each resident is encouraged to lead his/her own life as independently as possible, and individual cultural and religious needs are respected. The Home has an Activity Coordinator who arranges activities, outings and trips for the residents. The Hairdresser and the Chiropodist visit the home on a regular basis.

Staffing
A qualified and experienced senior staff team provide 24 hour management cover for the home, and they are ably supported by trained Care Assistants, catering and domestic staff.
