Thornbank is situated opposite a picturesque park in the northern suburbs of Ipswich. It was purchased by WRVS in 1945 and converted into their first residential care home for older people. Many of the rooms have attractive views of the park or the secluded gardens to the rear. The home has a lively social life, activities to suit all tastes, a friendly atmosphere and a dedicated team of staff.
Accommodation
Thornbank has a total of 29 bedrooms, of which 2 are double rooms, all with en-suite facilities. Each bedroom is fully furnished to a high standard. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items such as pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture. The rooms are also equipped with a nurse call system, TV point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets. Residents may have a telephone in their room at their expense.
Dining
Our catering team is committed to providing interesting and nutritional meals. Residents are offered a varied menu for each meal, with a choice of tasty and well presented food. Residents may eat in the dining room or take meals in their rooms if desired. All medical and special diets are catered for.
Staffing
A qualified and experienced Manager and team provide 24 hour management cover for the home, and they are ably supported by trained care assistants, catering and domestic staff.
Facilities
There are three comfortable lounges for residents. Thornbank has a passenger lift to all floors, stair lifts in the annex and a call system throughout the home. There is a pleasant well laid out garden with a decked area and full access. The home arranges a regular programme of activities, outings and trips for the residents. There are also regular visits by a hairdresser and chiropodist.
